Heart Aches and Remembrance with Leslie Tummel

It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since my Mom entered the gates of Heaven. It seems like a lifetime ago and yesterday all at the same time. There's not a single day of my life that I don't miss her, wonder what advice she'd give, wonder what would have been different if she were still here.

Today I'm grateful that the past is a place of reference, not a place of residence. I'm thankful for everything in my life, just as it is, because I know that looking up to my mom all my life, then losing her when I was 15, has turned me into the person I am today. I see the world through a set of lenses that I wish on no one, yet I'm so very grateful for the perspective on life that they afford me.

So, hug the folks you love a little tighter today, friends. If you're hurting this holiday season because there is an empty spot at your table, please know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I see you. The ache in my heart is still there. It's just different now. Every year it shifts a bit. I challenge you to use that ache. Channel it into something amazing. LIVE YOUR LIFE ON PURPOSE to honor the legacy of that person you miss.

I'd like to hear from you in the comments. Who is your heart aching for this holiday season? May we all hold space for each other in the coming weeks, and remember that even in great pain, there is GREAT JOY to be found. Merry Christmas, loves. Thanks for being a part of this magical online world with me!
