TightShip with Lisa Hall: Why Can't You Make That Important Decision

Successful people are able to make decisions quickly and to commit to their responsibilities. My own business coach says, “The Way You Do Anything Is the Way You Do Everything.” I couldn’t agree more! I see small business owners struggle all the time with decision-making and the inability to make a commitment until the last minute. When you cannot make a decision for your business in a rather fast manner then you literally will stop your business from gaining any momentum and risk your business dissolving completely. It’s not possible to be stagnate and grow at the same time.

So how do you begin to make fast decisions and commit to them?

  1. You need to realize and understand that there is typically low risk when a bad decision is made. Most of the time it’s relatively easy to go back and fix something as soon as you see it going the wrong way. As long as you learn from your mistakes it’s truly not a mistake. Understand that mistakes are really to help guide our decisions the next time we need to consider a couple of possibilities.
  2. You need to learn to trust your intuition. Most of us have rather great gut reactions but then we spend hours going back and forth debating the issue until we are blue in the fact. Instead we need to become aware of the “voices” that are speaking to us and give them the respect they deserve. Usually when out intuition is telling us something it’s because we’ve experienced something similar that is guiding us based on our previous experiences.
  3. You need to raise your level of confidence. Chances are that you are not giving yourself enough credit for the decision-making skills that you have. If you are running any kind of business, chances are you decided to get into that business because of your knowledge or skill set that you have in that particular area. You’ve probably spent years learning about and honing your craft and you’ve probably had some first hand experiences as well. Why should you then question your abilities to make decisions around your business? Your level of skill and past experiences should allow you the confidence to make a decision quickly. Step into that inner confidence and remember you are the CEO of your business. Act like it.

In my own business, I am being faced with many big decisions that have required me to act quickly…. That’s because I am in full event planning mode for my next business conference. I’M EXCITED FOR YOU TO SEE THE RESULTS. The last three conferences have been great success -- Mark the date down now for this one -- 9/15/2016!
