Fashionable Friday with Donna Roland: Is your style worthy of a Gold Medal?
Were you as glued to the TV as I was watching the Summer 2016 Olympics from Rio?! I think it is so exciting to watch these gifted and talented athletes achieve the goals they have worked so hard for all their life. As I sat in my recliner drinking my tea and eating my popcorn I thought to myself…”if only I had worked harder in gym class”… And then I remembered I have no rhythm and I am the most uncoordinated person on the planet. It sure is a good thing I know how to accessorize!!
Did you know people make a judgement of you within the first 7 seconds of seeing you? First impressions are the groundwork to all relationships and we don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. You have to wear something so why not wear something that will make a positive influence?!
In honor of the Olympics I want to share some easy tips on how you can dress in Gold Medal Style!
- The first key to dressing is to find items that are in your best colors. The best colors for you are ones that will compliment your dominant color characteristics which is your hair, skin and eyes. Our complexion, hair and eye colors determine whether particular colors make us look radiant or washed out, youthful or aged and energized or exhausted.
- The second key to dressing is to wear clothes that fit your particular body shape. Looking your best means knowing what your body shape is and dressing for it so that your body looks balanced. Remember…you can’t dress for the body you hope to have – we have to dress for the body we have now!
- The third key to dressing is knowing how to accessorize. It is all about proportion! Your accessories and prints should be proportionate to your frame size, shape and height.
Once you have learned these three key factors to dressing, shopping will be a breeze! You will be sprinting to the cash register with all your award winning purchases to dress like a true Fashion Olympian!!
